Creating a Text Hyperlink
For this you need to take two pieces of information from the 'Hyperlink
URL' page. These are circled below:
- Determine where on your web page you want to put the hyperlink
- Determine what you want the hyperlink to say, we will call this
a hyperlink label. On the 'Hyperlink URL' page we give a couple of
suggestions for hyperlink labels. If you look at the illustration
above there are two suggestions, namely 'Password Protected Area'
and 'My Private Area'. You can also make up your own label instead.
- Type in your hyperlink label at the desired location on the web
page. When you are done, highlight the text you've just typed by dragging
the mouse across it, then click the right mouse button. A menu will
appear similar to that shown below. Somewhere on the menu it will
say 'Hyperlink' or 'Link' or 'Make Link' (depends on the editor).
Basically if you see the word 'link' somewhere it will probably mean
create a Hyperlink which is what you want to do so click it!
- A dialog box will now appear similar to that shown below. Somewhere
on the dialog box there will be a text input field in which you are
required to type in a URL (in the illustration this is circled in
red).
Here you must type in the URL exactly as given on the 'Hyperlink URL'
page:
- Click 'OK' and the dialog box closes. Thats it, you've created the
Text Hyperlink! Notice how the Hyperlink label is now underlined indicating
that it is now a link. When your web page is displayed in a browser
and someone clicks on the link you've just created, they will be taken
to your Password Protector tool!
